The show is an interesting comic tug-of-war between a saas and a bahu, carried over three generations. The story moves from the point of view of a bahu who wants to enjoy her new role as a saas, but her saas doesn’t allow her to move away from her role as a bahu.. Suppressed for years, now the bahu wants to give vent to all her stifled aspirations, and wants to do the same which her saas has been doing to her for years... But the elder saas still sees to it that her bahu doesn’t get out of her control... And so the story moves with the attacks and the counter attacks, all seen in a lighter perspective..
Will the bahu finally be able to fullfill her aspiration of becoming a saas; or she will ever remain a bahu??

Meet The Characters :

Sheela Devi is 47 years old and still regulates the strings of the house. All the members of the house abide by her rules. The kitchen is her domain which she runs with the help of a Maharaj (Cook). After an initial spell of revolt, she bowed to her Saas. She had settled for peace, since her husband Mahesh turns out to be Mamma’s boy. She is now a devoted bahu – with no arguments of any sorts. But, Sheela secretly harbors a deep grudge against her Saas for having tamed her, and extinguished the fire within her. Now she is looking forward to become a Saas. She is very much aware of the dual role she would have to play – that is of a Saas and a Bahu at the same time. As she has been highly dominated by her Saas, she is all set to eagerly pass on her grievances to her bahu.

Saraswati is a 71 years old Saas and Sant Kumar’s wife. She’s the woman behind Sant Kumar’s great success as a business tycoon. Having completed 52 yrs of marriage, she has never been able to understand her husband ever. She regulates the house with her own set of principles and rules, and dominates her bahu Sheela Devi. The very day her bahu enters the house, she declares it to be her last working day, and demands every work to be done by her bahu. Thereafter she takes up reading Bhagwad Gita which never ends and she keeps on reading the same for a stretch of 28 years and still going on. The bahu Sheela Devi is extremely terrorized by her.


Sonia is a 21 year old strong headed girl, having ambitions of her own. She loves her husband immensely, and has deep respect for her Saas and Sasoor. Her gradual respect for Saas turns to revolt when she realizes that her mother in law has become a monster-in-law (a murder-in-law) reason being, of her mother in law Saraswati and the way she was treated as a bahu. However, since she gets along well with Saraswati she is not able to understand who is at fault.




Nagendra is the eldest son of Mahesh & Sheela. He is 27 years old, and has just got married. Mahesh is a hot tempered and impatient young man, but very loving towards both his parents and his wife Sonia. He helps his father Mahesh in the family business, and gets trapped in the tug of war between his wife and his mother.




Jiya is the youngest daughter of Mahesh & Sheela Devi. She is a character from the 3rd Generation. She has been a witness to the mutiny between the Saas’s and the Bahu’s over the years. Experiencing it all, she has reframed her dreams accordingly. She has happily decided to remain unmarried and has vowed never ever to fall in the so called trap of Saas Bahu. She prefers to remain alone all throughout her life.
